The
South River Shootists (SRS) and South River Gun Club (SRGC), Covington, GA, a
Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) Affiliated Cowboy Shooting Club. Welcome
all shooters and those interested in Cowboy shooting to come shoot with us. The
South River Shootists is a solely owned subsidiary shooting club of the SRGC,
and being solely owned, it is insured that the SRGC will always have a SASS
affiliated Cowboy Club in operation at SRGC. The overall day to day operation of
the South River Shootists has been placed under the responsibility of
experienced SASS Cowboy shooters, all of whom are also members of the SRGC. MATCH
DATES AND TIMES:
The South River Shootists will hold its monthly matches the third Saturday of
each month. Match set up will be conducted the Friday morning prior to the
scheduled match, generally starting at 9:00 am. Shooter registration will begin
at 7:30AM the morning of the match, and will stop at 9:00 am to insure the
necessary shooters lists can be completed. A
warm up stage will be provided from 9:00 am until 9:30 AM, with the cost of
$1.00 per time, being donated to a Georgia Young Shooters Fund, to encourage
young shooters ages 10 to 16 to become involved with Cowboy Action Shooting
events. A mandatory safety
briefing and announcement meeting will start at 9:35 AM, and, barring any
unforeseen delays, match shooting will begin at 9:50AM. In an effort to speed up
the application process, match applications will be available on the SRGC web
site Cowboy Page at SOUTH
RIVER GUN CLUB.
The match applications are on the website under forms and can be printed and
filled at prior to arrival at the range. If
this process is utilized, the shooter will be able to pay their match fee upon
arrival for the match. There is a
link for pre-registration, however it only provides SRS with your intent to
attend the match, this information is used to approximate number attending for
notification to food vendors and for SRS planning. Annual
Matches and SASS sponsored matches:
SRS will hold an annual match each year, and will consist of 8 to 10
stages with awards up to top five in each category.
With first place awards a plaque and all others certificates.
The annual for 2013 will be held March 16, 2013 and is a one day event
with 8 fun filled action cowboy stages. SRS
will hold its second SASS Southeast Territorial Black Powder Championship a SASS
regional level event on August 30, 31 and September 1, 2013.
This is a SASS sanctioned match. Additional
information can be found at the tab “Smokeout 2013”.
The match is a 10 stage with warm up event. Please see the application on
website. For
further information about matches upcoming check the “Events calendar” on
the SRGC main web page. SHOOTING
FEES MONTHLY MATCH ONLY (ALL
OTHER MATCHES PLEASE SEE MATCH APPLICATION FOR APPLICABLE FEES):
Members of SRS shooting fee will be
$15.00 per match. Non-members
shooting fee will be $20.00 per match. Couples
who are members of SRS will have a shooting fee of $25.00 per match. Non-member
couples will have a shooting fee of $35.00 per match.
Buckaroo/ette age 10 to 13 will shoot free with the adult shooter or
guardian bring to match also will shoot for free (limited to one adult); all
Buckaroo/ette shooters must have adult supervision.
Junior boy/girl age 14 to 16 will shoot for free and the adult shooter
bringing to match will receive a $5.00 discount (limited to one shooter per
junior shooter). This policy for
buckaroo/ette and junior shooters and those bringing will be effective as of
April 1, 2013. ANNUAL
MEMBERSHIPS:
2013 annual memberships for the South River Shootists will go on sale beginning
at the October 2012, match. After February 2013, those shooters who are not
annual members will pay the standard monthly match fee of $20.00. The Annual
Membership Application, which lists the cost of the various membership
categories, will also be on the SRGC web site at the above direct link. The
yearly costs are as follows: New
Member $20.00; Member renewal $15.00;
New Family (couple and children at home) $35.00; Family renewal $30.00.
The membership is effective each year from January 1 to December 31 of
current year. For year 2014 and beyond, the deadline for renewal will be by the
date for the February monthly match; if not a member or renewed member
non-member fees will be applicable. CHANGE
TO MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL FORM. For
2013 and beyond, renewal or new memberships please fill out a complete
Membership Application Form for each shooter and family member that will
participate under a family membership so that SRS has a complete record for each
member. Additionally, fill out a Liability Waiver Form for each member. Once
this is done, shooters who are SRS members will only have to fill out the
Monthly Match Registration Form to participate in a monthly match at SRS.
However, a new Liability Waiver must be submitted if any shooter information
changes. Shooters
that shoot with SRS but are not SRS members may also fill out the Liability
Waiver at the first match they shoot. If they then shoot additional matches,
they need only complete the Monthly Match Registration Form and sign indicating
that a Waiver is on file. This will
assist all shooters in speeding up the registration process.
With each new year a new waiver is necessary with new membership or
renewal memberships or at first match attended for non-member shooter. SASS
Range Officer I and II classes

Guidelines for SRS End of Year Club Awards: To
be eligible to compete for SRS year end club awards, shooters must be members of
SRS. The membership or renewal must
be completed between December 2012 and start of the monthly match in April 2013.
Any shooter not renewed by the April 2013 match (this is an extension of time
original date which was March), will not be eligible for annual awards.
Shooters must complete at least six matches in the same category to
qualify for annual awards for their chosen category. The Southeast Territorial
Black Powder Championship does not count towards annual awards. The category
award standing will be figured on the scores for the best six matches shot in a
single category. If the shooter has shot more than six matches, only the six
best match scores will be used. Effective
in 2014 if a shooter is not a member of SRS by February monthly match, they will
not be eligible for annual club awards.
Club
overall award requirements. The
SRS overall shooter award for men and women will be determined from all SRS
members who have shot at least six matches with the club. The overall shooter
award is not category specific. If more than six matches are shot, the best six
scores, regardless of category, will be used. The Southeast Territorial Black
Powder Championship does not count towards the club overall annual awards as it
is a SASS regional level event. Effective in 2014 if a shooter is not a member
of SRS by February monthly match, they will not be eligible for annual club
